“Unions Put Power in the Hands of the Workers”

On Sunday, President Joe Biden took to Twitter with a message for the workers in Alabama – and across America – that the decision to form a union is a right of the worker, and fully dependent on their own choice, not their employers.

President Biden went on to state:

There should be no intimidation, no coercion, no threats, no anti-union propaganda. No supervisor should confront employees about their union preferences. Every worker should have a free and fair choice to join a union. The law guarantees that choice. And it’s your right, not that of an employer, it’s your right.

He continued:

There should be no intimidation, no coercion, no threats, no anti-union propaganda. No supervisor should confront employees about their union preferences. Every worker should have a free and fair choice to join a union. The law guarantees that choice. And it’s your right, not that of an employer, it’s your right.

Biden also spoke on the ability of unions to protect the worker against racial discrimination and sexual harassment, furthering the idea that unions not only protect your paycheck, but the whole of your workplace experience, and should serve as a means of collective and community support that corporations aren’t prepared to provide.
