Who is ULU Local 100?

Local 100’s mission is to organize and represent unorganized service sector workers in the middle south states of Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas, and allow our members to create a vehicle to allow them a clear voice and real power in their workplace and their communities.  After more than 25 years as an SEIU local, in October 2009 Local 100 became independent again. Documented driving experience outside Dallas County Schools can be credited to the years of Dallas County experience, which puts the employee at a higher level on the pay scale.

Mr. Sysamouth Singvong has driven a school bus for Dallas County Schools and other school bus companies and school districts for almost 19 years. Before coming to work for Dallas County Schools.

Mr Singvong had asked to be given credit for his experience but nothing happened until he got Local 100 involved.

Local 100 went to bat and  got enough experience credited to him to get a $6.00 per hour pay raise and $2400.00 back pay and he might win more.

Mildred Edmond is stepping down as President. She has been an officer of the board for over thirty years, but has now retired. The Nominating Committee recommends that she be elected as a non-voting Emeritus member in honor of her more than 30 years of service to the organization.

Dine’ Butler is being nominated for two positions, because it is the feeling that we should combine these positions for more efficient operations, and if she is elected, such an amendment will be presented under the bylaws and constitution of Local 100.

The Election is set for Saturday, November 29, 2014 for three-year terms commencing on January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2017.   If there are no additional nominees who come forward with petitions to run, then by the constitution and bylaws, the nomination committee slate, shall be the new board and officers. Requirements to petition would entail signatures being submitted in a timely fashion by a dues paying member for the last 2 years by no later than November 15, 2014 from the number of units required by the constitution and bylaws. Such petitions would need to be received in New Orleans at the union’s headquarters at 2221 St. Claude Avenue in New Orleans 70117. For more information or a copy of the bylaws, contact your nearest Local 100 office or the New Orleans headquarters at 504-302-1238 x 2002.
